Hi all, I posted t'other day asking for opinions on girl's names including Jasmine. There was a suggestion that Jasmine is slightly chavvy? What does everyone think?

I hadn't actually considered this as it seems such a beautiful name to me but maybe I don't know the latest word on the street :) Ta!

Interesting post from the American contingent.

I went to School with a Yasmin, and she was part Iranian. I would consider it as a name for a DD, if only hubbie or I had a a middle east connection.

Re Jasmine, I've only met one, she is not chavvy and very pretty. She is mixed race, and so I have always associated as a beautiful exotic name.

I went to School with an India and she was mixed race, her father's family were originally from Punjab, India. I have therefore always associated the name, India, for someone with a connection to the country.

I like a name that reflects your heritage, which is why my daughter is called Ffion.
