Besides Susannah, Annabelle, or Antonia? (Ann-tuh-NEE-uh, not Ann-TOE-nia. Well, they could both have Annie as a nickname obviously, but I like the first pronunciation better. :))

Perianne - I know one and it's often shortened to ANnie

ooh, think Georgiana is my favorite so far, so pretty. (And I could think of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy saying it his sister :))

sweetkitty I was going to suggest Bethany as that is DD's (aged 3) name. We call her Beth but Bessie is adorable!

I have NEVER heard your preferred pronounciation of Antonia (guess what my name is? Grin). Fear you may end up constantly correcting people. It's a bit of a difficult one anyway, lots of people instantly think you're really posh Angry and having to correct the pronounciation won't help that!

Sorry, really not trying to put you off the name (it is nice!) just giving you an insight! It may of course just be me and my class hang-ups...

Right right kingthistle I was thinking of Willa Cather's book "My Antonia"; the main character is always (at least in college lit courses :o)pronounced "Ann-tuh-NEE-uh." DH was a lit major and likes it. I like Annie. So.... :)

Why don't you just call her Annie and have done with it! My sister has an Annabel and she is always called Annie now. I know another girl whose name is just that - no derivitive at all.

IHeartKingThistle · 28/10/2010 16:26

Ah yes, forgot about the book! Doesn't it have an accent in the book though? My mum's copy did, I'm sure.

I didn't want to give too much info away on here but i guess i already have - my DD is Annie and it is the best name ever! She's honestly not named after me though, no-one calls me by my full name anyway!

Antonia is simply one of the most wonderful, gorgeous, multicultural, beautiful and best names ever.[hgrin]

Not that I am biased at all[hwink]

Barely used and no Antonia A.B.C.etc. on the school coat peg.

Familiar in most languages so travels well.

Has a lovely melodic sound.

My own DD has never been known by anyone as anything but Antonia, so no "nicknames" needed.Smile.

Antonia, go for it.!!!!

Know a girl named Rhiannon who is called Annie.

tummytickler · 29/10/2010 22:30

Angela?
I love Angela so very much.
Or just Anne.

noeyedear · 30/10/2010 08:47

What about Angelica? I do like Georgiana better though. I was trying to come up with another variation.
