Is Robin Rose for a girl ridiculous? How about Riley or Minnie?

Anybody else thinking potentially of Robin for a girl or Riley? I like Robin Rose and Riley Rose but not 100% in love with them. I also quite like Minnie and Dotty but are those names likely to get picked on?

PS did you know Snowdrop is an actual name!

I know three Rileys, all boys. I wouldn't use it for a girl.

Robin is a lovely name for a girl, wouldn't use the 'y' spelling though. Not sure I like it with Rose though..

like Elsa - what about Elise, Elodie, Eloise as alternative considerations? Elsie way too popular at the moment. Elissa is another alternative (or you could spell it Alyssa)

Thanks so much for your advice! Really appreciate it! D

Robyn is lovely and is the more commonly spelt version for a girl.

No Smiley for Riley

Is that Robin with Rose as a middle name, or Robin Rose as a first name? I don't have a problem with the alliteration if it's a middle name, no-one will notice, they go togther well I think.

I would not use both as a first name,

JamieLeeCurtis · 29/10/2010 18:12

I like Robyn

Or a fantasy name I have is Ripley (Aliens) being one of my favourite films)

MrsVincentPrice · 29/10/2010 18:36

Ripley is a fantastic role model, but her name is Ellen. Robin is nice if slightly butch. Minnie is a frequently used name for female genitals which may or may not be common in your area, and you do not want to find out the answer via howls of laughter when she introduces herself on her first day in reception.

CheerfulYank · 29/10/2010 18:42

I like Robin. I think Minnie is very nice but am American and it's not used for vajayjay here :o. Riley is ick IMO. I like Rose/Rosie a lot!

JamieLeeCurtis · 29/10/2010 18:47

Yes, you are right MrsVincent. I'm not generally a fan of surnames-as-first-names, and I'm not sure I'd actually do it, but I do like the role model
