Help on what to do if my unborn child becomes a girl

I am in a bit of a pickle here. I have been divorced now for 9 years but I am engaged to my darling, Joe and recently got the great news of being pregnant.

Myself and Joe were discussing possible baby names if our lovely unborn child was a boy or girl. I think the names we have gone over are so adorable but the one my Joe wants if our child is a girl is Ima.

Ima is such a beautiful name but since myself and Joe are due to get married at Christmas, my surname will be changing to Hore.

I know a name shouldn't be joked upon and I am in no way immature, however, I do know how some kids at school could poke fun at such names because they sound so wrong.

My Joe is so set on having Ima as the girl's name because it was the name of his grandmother who sadly died last year and I don't want to upset him because the name means so much to him.

Can anyone please give advice on what to do? On one hand I love the name and wish to respect my Joe's wishes but on the other, I don't want my child being bullied at school because some kids can't help but poke fun.

thankies!

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 14:57

Lexx · 23/10/2010 14:58

LovelyJuggly · 23/10/2010 14:59

Yeah do it. Winifred as a middle name?

Ima W Hore.

It's your child. Don't let anybody tell you it's cruel. Go for it.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 15:02

Oh Joe, sorry, you should have been clearer in your OP.

LovelyJuggly · 23/10/2010 15:04

It's ok. I hope you can get a free NHS eye test.

Teehee, OUCH!!

I think if you both like you should have it, but its obv from the fact that you've posted this thread that you are aware that your little girl is likely to be bullied for this. Personally i would steer well clear and think of another name, maybe use Ima as her middle name? so that she doesnt have to tell people if she doesnt want to.

BooBooImpaledOnBrokenGlass · 23/10/2010 17:16

Deffo Middle Name. May I suggest May and Bea for the first and second names?

expectingno3 · 23/10/2010 17:18

What about lengthening the name to say, Imogen. Does that work? Spelling is different I know, but still.

TondelayooohSchwarlock · 23/10/2010 17:19

I think you should call her Davina Ursula Tracey Hore.

DU T. Hore.

RustyBear · 23/10/2010 17:20

Were you on DigitalSpy earlier OP?

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 23/10/2010 17:24

Ima Crakk Hore.

Very pretty.

thefirstmrsDeVeerie · 23/10/2010 17:29

Ima Fecking Hore

Ima Skanky Hore

Ima 10dollar Hore

All very popular round my way.

expectingno3 · 23/10/2010 17:29

Lengthen to Imalda? Varient of Imelda, latin, meaning wishful.

LovelyJuggly · 23/10/2010 18:19

Thank you expectingno3. I'm sure Joe (or Josh for the visually-impaired)would love that name.

Imelda or Imogen are both beautiful names and can be shortened to Ima. :)

MadameCastafiore · 23/10/2010 21:33

God i used to wokr with a woman who is marrying her fiance called Joe at Christmas and was just thinking you might be her and I didn;t know she was pregnant!

pastaplease · 23/10/2010 21:33

Don't do it! Even if yourself and your Joe (sorry Wink ) are set on the name, you must think of the child!

pastaplease · 23/10/2010 21:37

I've just re-read your post and I think this is a wind-up, OP!

IsItNapTimeYet · 23/10/2010 23:02

use Nota as a middle name.

Ima Nota Hore.

problem solved.

A1980 · 23/10/2010 23:20

This has got to be a wind up?

mamadiva · 23/10/2010 23:38

Sorry if this is real but it would be rather unfortunate.

Like the idea of an alternate first name. How about

Lukame is pretty.

Lukame Ima Hore has a certain ring to it I think :o
