These are probably final 2 although we have 2 other backups as well.

Opinions between the two?

Ooooh, ooooh, ooooh .... Elias.

Lovely lovely name.

Hugo .... hmmmm ..... less lovely, a bit poncey imo. Smile

Hugo is quite common ( as in lots of). I have never met an Elias.

Hugo was on the list for my daughter 16 years ago. It wasn't as in vogue then as it is now.

crabb · 21/10/2010 06:04

My grandson Elias is called Eli. Love it.

Komondor · 21/10/2010 09:33

Hugo, at a push. I think I like Hugo, just prefer Hugh. I consider Hugo a poncey name, and Hugh a good solid name.

Elias, too close to alias to me. We used to know a gypsy called Sonny (bought hay for his horses from my dad), and Sonny was his alias name, we didnt find out about his real name, till he was in jail in Germany for fraud. His real name was Eli. I hear Elias and immediately think of Sonny. When dad found out he was a horse thief he wanted to stop selling him hay, but was concerned if he said something he'd have his landrover stolen etc. Sorry, for the long story, but rather ruined the name Elias for me.

We have a Hugo, so I obviously love it Grin He gets called Hugo Bear a lot...

That said, I like Elias too!

GeorgeOsborne · 21/10/2010 13:27

Hugo. Bit more grown up and classic.

Elias, I like it but it is so NW London (see Elias & Grace beloved of Jools Oliver) and that would put me off, it may date more than Hugo.

skippingturtle · 21/10/2010 13:56

Elias all the way! Hugo is too posh for me too!

CuppaMouldyBatBallsBrothJanice · 21/10/2010 14:11

Elias.

Hugo is much too poncey - you'd have to dress him in Boden slacks and drive him round in a Range Rover. And who can afford that these days?!!

PatriciaHolm · 21/10/2010 14:20

LOL Cuppa - my Hugo owns Boden trousers but won't wear them Grin He'd wear cotton shorts every day if I let him...

(and we don't have a Range Rover either Grin)

RunnerHasbeen · 21/10/2010 16:09

It depends on your accent - if the O in Hugo will be short and sweet, like and "Oh" then I would go for it. If it will be stretched out a bit a sort of e-ow sound - then Elias!

SunOverStars · 18/12/2010 19:48

Just updating this - his name is Elias Hugo Grin Grin

SunOverStars · 18/12/2010 19:48

And it's me, but namechanged

AllieW · 18/12/2010 19:53
