What are your thoughts on Willow for a girl?

I like the name and always regret not calling dd2 this, for the reason that MardyBra suggests.

As it happens she is very slender and tall for her age, and the name would have suited her perfectly.

I love Willow. I knew a couple with two DDs called Tilly and Willow, always used to be called Willy and Tillow!

Love it!!!!

I like it...but my brother's dog is called Willow. Great for a black lab.

Yellowflowers · 19/10/2010 18:23

I love it but being short and fat have ruled it out, along with Grace for the same reason!

MuGGGhoulWump · 19/10/2010 18:25

Not bad as such, but too descriptive for me.
I think of a tall willowy, pretty blonde, and not all kids turn out that way!

LionsnTigersnBears · 19/10/2010 19:04

Its a gorgeous name, but has few nicknames

lowra · 19/10/2010 19:10

Thanks for your opinions everyone and very pleased that the overall response seems to be positive. Think we are pretty much decided on Willow for a girl.

Now a boy's names, much more difficult, can't seem to find anything we like (or agree on). Hopefully going to find out the sex on 25th November, will make it easer if it's a girl Grin

I used to like it but it's so trendy now and not particularly timeless. For me it conjures up two things; willow trees = death and withering away, and for some strange reason; Gwyneth Paltrow. Neither are particularly pleasant.

discobeaver · 19/10/2010 19:37

Lol at Gwyneth Paltrow (I always call her 'the milk carton' because that's what she reminds me of!)

I do like Willow, Will Smith's daugher is called Willow. I know a foal called willow though, and would be worried about the nn Willy.

Think that Mark from Take That called his daughter Willow too

spiderlight · 19/10/2010 21:46

Love it!
