Kaiden Arlo

indigomagic · 18/10/2010 22:34

I think if you like Kaiden you should go for it (though I do prefer the spelling Caden)

I suggest
Kaiden Joe

Alicat13 · 09/04/2015 10:18

Excuse me! One of my sons names is Kaiden!! He is a beautiful baby boy... Kaiden is and Irish name from the name Cayden, it means companion and warrior.
When I had my twins I gave Kaiden the middle name a family name which was David
So Kaiden David
But I would I suggest a name that had 1,3, to 4 syllables like Alexander (avoid ones that end with an N)

florascotia · 09/04/2015 10:51

Alicat - I agree with you that Kaiden (however spelled) comes from a Gaelic word meaning warrior.
I was very puzzled by earlier poster who said that Caden was the Cornish for Paul. So far as I know, in all British-Celtic languages (Scottish and Irish Gaelic, Welsh, Breton and Cornish) the word-element 'cad' or 'cath' means 'battle' or 'man of battle'.

This thread is 4.5 years old. Hmm

manicinsomniac · 09/04/2015 10:56

Caiden Anthony
Caiden Joel
Caiden John
Caiden George
Caiden Francis

manicinsomniac · 09/04/2015 10:57

Sorry! Kaiden - I got mixed up with all the spelling arguments!

VT82 · 09/04/2015 11:15

4.5 years old? I wonder if young Kaiden the commoner has been expelled from nursery yet and is already working in McDonalds (no stars, obviously)?

rembrandtsrockchick · 09/04/2015 11:33

Kaiden is an unusual name so I would go with something short and traditional as a middle name.

James for preference or maybe Seth.

Also John. Peter.

madreloco · 09/04/2015 15:47

Kaiden is NOT an Irish name. There is no K in the Irish language.
If you piss about with names you can't still claim them as the original name.

Caden and Caeden are proper names. Kaiden is a recent innovation.

When I was at school there was a Canon called Caden Law Spence. I always thought Caden Law was very cool! Plus, he was a thoroughly nice man!

So my suggestion is, Law.

This is an old thread.

How do these threads even come back around?!

I've only been on mumsnet for less than a year but I see that it has always been a ground for judgemental people to walk on regarding baby names!

NKfell · 09/04/2015 18:54

It might be helpful to people considering Kaiden...Although, if someone's considering it, they might be put off by this thread!

I wonder what this Kaiden's middle name is!

CMOTGilbertBlythe · 09/04/2015 18:55

I expect AliCat did an Advanced Search for her son's name and this came up.

florascotia · 09/04/2015 19:50

All this stuff about spelling depends on how far back into history one wants to go. Taken too far, it becomes problematic. Consider this example:
Today, Kelly is one of the most famous Irish surnames.
Originally it was probably 'ceallach', which means 'hermit'.
But over the years it's been given an English-style spelling. With a 'k'. Does that make any less Irish???

The same shift to English-style spelling very probably applies to Kaiden.

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 09/04/2015 20:21

Very good point Flora!
