I know I've done this before but I'm due today and not sure I feel any clearer about which name to use.....

Maisie or Madeleine.

We would shorten Madeleine to Maddy and Maisie could use Mai or Maia when older if needed/wanted a more grown up name.

What do you think? Be nice!

Maisie is a nn for names like Mary (like Mazz for instance) and it's getting more and more popular. I would use Maya on the BC and Maisie as a nn if you choose Maisie.

My choice would be Madeleine though. You could even use Maisie as a nn for Madeleine.

Madeleine

If we pick Maisie we won't be using it as a nn for anything. It would be Maisie on the birth certificate, I know that it can be a nn for Margaret but I don't see it myself (and for various reasons we won't have Margaret as a formal name) lots of people have suggested that we can virtually use any name beginning with M and shorten it to Maisie, but to me it doesn't flow.

I immediately think of Maisy Mouse, and trust me, I am sure your daughter will end up loving reading the books. Madeleine is much nicer.
