Good baby name sites - are there any?

  • other than here of course!

I'd be very grateful for recommendation of decent baby name website(s), ideally one which has a massive list of names per page with no flashing, dancing adverts.

5 weeks to go and really struggling to come up with any names that I like and DP doesn't pull a 'no face' at.
Am desperately hoping to be inspired by something that'll jump out from a list (then we can think about middle names)

TIA

babynamewizard.com is amazing. It's American so it's very attuned to US trends, but the interactive tools are really neat and the chat in the blog posts is very educated, interesting and informative.

nameberry.com also good (also American).

Why don't you have a look at the Office of National Statistics site. www.statistics.gov.uk/statbase/Product.asp?vlnk=15282

2008 baby names list gives loads of names and tells you how popular they were. Definately no adverts here!

I love Nameberry. Tons of links.

Appellationmountain.net is nice for browsing.

Behind the name is good.

Not a site to use for inspiration, more a site to use when you need a darn good laugh: Bad Baby Names

It is a personal favourite of mine and never fails to raise a smile, or tears of laughter for that matter Grin

Thanks for all the suggestions, still no nearer a name for either gender that we can agree on, but enjoying leafing through the Times and Telegraph spreadsheets and seeing what Nymbler can make of my preferences of the moment.

Will no doubt be turning to Bad Baby Names for some light relief soon Smile

nymbler what a great search facility, put in my three favroute names for girls and the 7 others I like came up under similar :)

The Baby Name Wizard is also quite fun, shows trends which can be interesting.

I am struggling most with boy names though.

We don't know what we are expecting.
