What do you think of Eliza?

Dh's choice, I am yet to be convinced. Should it be short for Elizabeth? Is it too popular? What do you think?

Lovely. But SIL has just had an Elise and it's too similar for me to use :(

Love it! Always have done and would have been on our list if we had had a girl.

On a down side the actress who played Sonia in EEnders has just had an Eliza Beatrice if that makes ANY difference to you at all!!

Eliza is fine as a name on its own, doesn't need to be short for anything. I think of it as a bit old fashioned, but that might just be me! I also associate it with the woman from My Fair Lady.
Nice name though, and not very popular as far as I know.

I really like it. Nice and feminine without being too frilly.

I know a little Eliza and think it is gorgeous, she was named after a family member from the 18th century and it was definitely Eliza and not short for anything.

It's gorgeous and not especially popular. I know one. It's definitely a name in its own rights as well.

Lovely! Not very common, but an easily-recognisable name.

My great grandmother was an Eliza - she was awarded the OBE for bravery and devotion to duty during an air raid in world war 1 (she ran the telephone exchange in Whitstable at the time). So that's what I think of when I hear Eliza!

I would say there are one or two around now, but it's not particularly common.

Love it - but Natalie Cassidy just called her little girl Eliza if you're at all bothered about 'celeb' names.

Love it! My 3 year old is Eliza Catherine. Suits her perfectly. She is nn Lizzie but mostly Eliza.

Why should anyone bother about celeb names?

My Grandmother was Eliza Sarah so I love it and it's on my list for a future DD (if I'm lucky enough to have one).

Think Eliza is classic but not dull - and not that used. So thumbs up for me.

I don't think it is a sleb name. Natalie Cassidy chose a normal name, so I think it'd be stupid to let that put you off. Same as Danni minogue, she chose Ethan. I don't think these are sleb names. Apple, Blossom, Tallulah, Lola, Lila, Moses Shilo, Maddox etc... that's another story.

I haven't the foggiest who Natalie Cassidy is-a great advantage!

I think Eliza is gorgeous!

I would use Elizabeth (it's on my list) with Eliza as a casual nickname.
