The Name Elimination Game

Lilka · 29/09/2010 19:08

This is quite an interesting game to play - try it!!

You get a list of one name for each letter of the alphabet. Can be either boy or girl names.

The next person to post eliminates the name they like the least, and states why they eliminated it (please no nasty insults here e.g. that name is disgusting). Copy the modified list under you eliminated name so the next poster can follow on.

This then continues until there is only one name left, whuch is the winning name.

Then you can start a new list off with completely different names. Hopefully may give people some new name ideas. After a couple of rounds we may have to eliminate certain letters of the alphabet that are hard to find names for :)

Here is the list:

Adam
Brandon
Caden
Darrell
Elijah
Faith
Genevieve
Harriet
Isla
Jasmine
Katie
Lily
Marcus
Natasha
Oliver
Persephone
Queenie
Rosa
Samuel
Tristan
Ursula
Vanessa
Wendy
Xavier
Yarjelis
Zara

Algernon, one of my least favourite names ever. 'Algy' is not a good nickname!

Also, may I replace Natasha with Niamh? We've already had Natasha (see first list).

"All the winners so far have been boys names!"

I wonder if that's because there is more scope for girl's names to more "out there" and therefore more irritating to some people, whereas the majority of boys names tend to be a bit safer IMO.

Skyrg · 01/10/2010 18:59

Perhaps. Samuel, Zachary and Niall are reasonably safe, although Niall is a bit unusual. Maybe we should do 'themed' lists :) Eg, hippie names!

MrsMadWriggle · 01/10/2010 19:01

One of my DC's names was out early on these lists and the other did really well. The one that did best was the boy's name.

My mother found both names objectionable when we chose them! Grin

Getting shot of Rae. It's not a proper name and there is something quite middle aged about it.
