The Name Elimination Game

Lilka · 29/09/2010 19:08

This is quite an interesting game to play - try it!!

You get a list of one name for each letter of the alphabet. Can be either boy or girl names.

The next person to post eliminates the name they like the least, and states why they eliminated it (please no nasty insults here e.g. that name is disgusting). Copy the modified list under you eliminated name so the next poster can follow on.

This then continues until there is only one name left, whuch is the winning name.

Then you can start a new list off with completely different names. Hopefully may give people some new name ideas. After a couple of rounds we may have to eliminate certain letters of the alphabet that are hard to find names for :)

Here is the list:

Adam
Brandon
Caden
Darrell
Elijah
Faith
Genevieve
Harriet
Isla
Jasmine
Katie
Lily
Marcus
Natasha
Oliver
Persephone
Queenie
Rosa
Samuel
Tristan
Ursula
Vanessa
Wendy
Xavier
Yarjelis
Zara

Bye bye Rosy, you just look without an ie and should, I believe, be considered a diminutive of Rose rather than a name in your own right.

Farewell Lottie, you're a nn for Charlotte and for some reason, that name sounds too blunt/harsh/jolly hockey sticks (! sorry can't find the right word!) for me.

lazycow007 · 06/10/2010 11:06

Taffetacat - The singer spells her name with a Cia at the end not the Sia I had written. Nevermind Smile

smother · 06/10/2010 11:36

So is it going to be Elsie or Poppy? I've already had a turn so don't feel I can decide this one (although do have a very hot favourite as I love one and hate the other).... ooh, the suspense!

LifeOfKate · 06/10/2010 11:45

Hehe, smother, I also already had a go, but quite like both names, so not bothered either way!

nickelbabe · 06/10/2010 11:51

okay, then, you wimps.

I'm getting rid of Elsie, as I know a lady at church with that name.(and it should be a diminutive, anyway).

So Poppy wins!

(even though i don't like it that much)

NEXT!

lazycow007 · 06/10/2010 11:53

Two of my nieces are called Poppy and Elsie so niece number 5 wins!

nickelbabe · 06/10/2010 11:54

are we following each other? Shock

you can so the next list if you like Grin

lazycow007 · 06/10/2010 11:59

I did the last list so do you fancy a go?

I am suppose to be working but keep sneaking off to check on my threads Grin so i prob won't be on again for a few hours now. We obviously have similar interests or sense of humour - either that or we are mad stalkers Grin

nickelbabe · 06/10/2010 12:28

that's why i like being self-employed - moone to check up on me!
might do my VAT return soon, though....

I'll have a think, see if i can compile one before anyone beats me to it!
(beware there might be duplicates...)

You go first.

smother · 06/10/2010 12:36

oops, overlap. you beat us to it Lonnie, Nickel and my lists will have to wait....

So many dodgey names to expunge on the below but I'll have to go for Thomasina because, unlike many examples, the female version of the name Thomas is uglier than the male version. Bye bye Thomasina or shall I call you Tom (??erk) for short?
