SweetBeadieRussell · 27/09/2010 10:12

ok, i'm feeling generous so you can have dd2's name - She's Alexandra, possibly the least wishy washy girl's name ever.

anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 10:22

Boudica.
Margaret
Catherine.

How strong do you want?!

Grandhighpoohba · 27/09/2010 10:31

Morven - means mountains

smilingserenely · 27/09/2010 10:36

looking for names that aren't overly feminine

Lovethesea · 27/09/2010 10:37

Anna - simple, strong and would suit any personality (IMHO!)

QuickLookBusy · 27/09/2010 10:37

Bob!Smile

iskra · 27/09/2010 10:40

Nina - simple, strong & would suit any personality too! I think...

QuickLookBusy · 27/09/2010 11:05

Actually, was being silly about Bob, but what about Roberta-Bobby for short.

smilingserenely · 27/09/2010 11:06

quick look realised you were joking but ds is a bob the builder fan and calls the bump bob

Beatrice
Constance
Juliet
Christabel
Vivien
Margaret
Elizabeth

I like names like this. Never been a fan of milly/molly/mandy type names (no offence meant - it's so personal)

smilingserenely · 27/09/2010 11:10

valium love christabel but thought the bel ending makes it too feminine

OP posts:
anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 11:11

Another vote for Beatrice.
Left that off my list.
Tessa
Tara
Andrea

dinkystinky · 27/09/2010 11:11

I like Naomi - think it sounds strong but the "i" ending could be taken to be wishywashy

Roberta

Hazel
Helen
Rachel
Tess
Bethan
Megan
Erin
Elin
Tamsin
Frances

all strong, non-frilly names

dizietsma · 27/09/2010 11:20

Elizabeth
Victoria
Kate

ValiumSingleton · 27/09/2010 11:23

What about just Christa?

Christabel is feminine but in a strong way imo. Like say Eleanor or Nancy. THere is the Christabel Pankhurst connection which more than counters the 'bel' at the end.. Although I know what you mean about bel.

myredcardigan · 27/09/2010 11:24

My girls are Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Catherine (Kitty)

I also like Constance (Connie), Alexandra, Beatrice, Frances, Joan and Jean. Josephine is quite nice too. Smile

PestoEatsPastiesandSurfboards · 27/09/2010 11:24

Caroline
Kate
Alexis/Alexa

dizietsma · 27/09/2010 11:26

Also, Matilda/Maud means "mighty in battle". Though with Matilda you run the risk of Tilly, which is a bit frilly.

Louise means warrior.

myredcardigan · 27/09/2010 11:26

Although we call our Catherine, Kitty, I always think that Kate sound very strong very unlike Katie.

Ellen is also quite strong IMO.

smilingserenely · 27/09/2010 11:28

love matilda but dh hates it

anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 11:29

Claudia
Clara
Krista/Christa
Kirsten
Kristen
Tasmin
Tamsin
(Bath)Sheba

Any of Rebecca/Victoria/Nicola are good strong names, but unfortunately they are always shortened to their terrible nn versions.

Samantha. But will be shortened to the (less offensive) Sam.

anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 11:30

Isabella ruled Europe. That might be a bit frilly, so Isabel?

Kate I like very much. Don't mess with Kate!

Ruth
Beth
