...love the names Saul and Samuel for a boy but our surname begins with S and not keen on the SS initials.

Any suggestions? - I love Biblical names but DH would need some persuading.

I found boys' names very hard to choose last time and luckily we had a girl.

Surname is similar to Smith - ie one syllable begins with S.

Thanks.

I wouldnt personally have an S.S name. What if the child has a lisp? Even if it doesnt... I dont think "Saul Smith" or similar sounds brilliant... personally of course!

Cain
Daniel
Caleb
Paul

Jude
Luke (good if he likes Star Wars!)
Adam

Thanks for the suggestions

I do like Jude

All the others out for one reason or another.

I definitely would feel weird about the SS initials, just like the 'feel' of Saul and Samuel.

Also like Max but don't feel it goes well with an S surname either.

Abraham, Isaac, Aaron, Moses.

fizzpops · 24/09/2010 14:39

Posie I love all yours apart from Aaron (knew one at school).

Abraham seems quite aged though
Isaac - liked this for DD (had she been a boy) DH not keen
Moses - love but not sure if it isn't too out there for DH and possibly for me.

Like Noah but DH also not keen and I have heard lots of mixed reactions to it.

DH is a bit more conservative than me...

We have lots of Noahs around here. Moses is my favourite, and I forgot Gabriel (love Gabe).

onimolap · 24/09/2010 18:05

Peter? Matthew? Timothy? Paul? Joshua? James? Thomas?

fizzpops · 24/09/2010 22:05

Love Gabriel too Posie!

Sorry onimolap - all out for various reasons, we have a large family and I have a rule not to use the same names as family members.

Makes boys' names doubly difficult to choose.
