Hi all, Due in a couple of weeks and have a few girls names to choose from but a bit stumped with boys. I like Alistair best but my DP likes Euan and Michael. I also love Gilbert but surname is a G too. Any suggestions??

I'm with you...my vote would be for alistair, but maybe you want to avoid Ali G Grin ... Euan or Ewan would be my next choice... HTH

PomPotty · 22/09/2010 11:30

oh just a thought Alastair would avoid the Ali G thing.... I'm not helping am I, sorry!

Kittyroo · 22/09/2010 11:40

Yes, Was a bit worried about the Ali G thing!! Do like Ali as a NN so maybe should avoid it or go for Alastair/Alasdair?

I like Michael but read recently it has been number one boys name in us for years

minipie · 22/09/2010 12:45

I like Alastair/Alistair the most, wouldn't worry too much about the Ali G thing as he's not been around for a while and won't be current by the time your DS is a bit older.

Alistair is a fabulous name, Gilber? WTF.

Kittyroo · 22/09/2010 18:10

Thought Gilbert may get a mixed response!! It's a family name and I agree it isn't to everyone's taste!! Just need to try and persuade DH that Alistair is best. Also MIL hates it and prefers Euan or Michael. Hmmm. Should I care??

Alistair.Definitely not Gilbert.

midnightexpress · 22/09/2010 19:05

Alistair is lovely, also Euan, although I would spell it Ewan or Ewen meself. Not keen on Gilbert (though Gil is way cool as a NN, so possibly, for that). Michael a bit meh.

mooncupflowethover · 22/09/2010 19:29

Euan, definitely, fab name. Although I'm biased!

pointydog · 22/09/2010 19:36

Michael.

Then Euan.

I find Alistair and all its many variations a bit wet.
