I love Zachary because it is DS2's name hehe and he is always called Zachary, never Zach

LadySanders · 20/09/2010 12:04

mopsy - yes his first name is fine, but every time we get an official letter through with his middle initial on it, we sigh and say 'what were we thinking?'. he couldn't be any less zach-like... he looks like an 'edward', so you can see where the issue is!

OkieCokie · 20/09/2010 12:30

Landysanders I would not worry if it is a middle name. How often do people really refer to middle names anyway?

sophiesmummie · 20/09/2010 13:05

I agree, Ladysanders. You really don't use a middle name very often at all.

Love it. Like Zachary aswell but I prefer short names for boys and i never used the long form of my name and it's annoying sometimes! I think the shortened version is more popular in the name charts, if you add all the spellings up it would be quite high in the charts but it's nowhere near as popular as Jack/Oliver etc. It's a strong name and not cutesy like Alfie/Archie etc which is a welcome change. I like all the spellings but the C softens it abit.

Would you pronounce Zach differently to Zac as in

Zac = Zak
Zach = Za-tch (like such or peach)

I wouldn't have thought so myself but the last post made me think...

HerHonesty · 20/09/2010 15:57

what pray does a zach or zac or zak look like? or for that matter, what does an edward look like?

Her, DS2 looks like a Zachary lol....piccy on profile

zachsmama · 20/09/2010 21:08

We have a Zachariah. We swap between Zach and Zachariah when talking to/about him. I tend to write Zach though because it's quicker Grin
We didn't like Zachary though and originally intended to call him Zachariah all the time btu we don't mind Zach, in fact it suits him :)

OkieCokie · 21/09/2010 09:38

Would never pronounce Zach and Za-tch - the "h" is silent.

LadySanders · 21/09/2010 13:02

herhonesty - i'm not sure what a zach looks like (am influenced by the fact that i know 2 other zachs)... but in the case of ds2, who looks like an edward not a zach, he looks quite serious and somehow old-fashioned...
