Please, please, please can I have your opinions. Me and DH are going around in circles and we want to register DD birth early next week. We have changed our minds once already over her name, as we felt it didn't suit her. Now we feel really guilty, as we have not only confused ourselves and our 3 year old DS but also our DD is over 1 week old and still with no definate name Blush. So out of the two names which do you prefer???

Is there a reason for the variant spelling of Annabel?

I like Florence best.

beccagrace2 · 18/09/2010 18:04

florence

RolsGirl · 18/09/2010 18:13

Florence is lovely but I hope it's not after that awful woman from Florence and the machine. Annabella is nicer than Anabelle though, in my opinion. Florence Anabelle! Smile

passionberry · 18/09/2010 18:15

I like Florence.

What about Florence Arabella?

neversaydie · 18/09/2010 18:16

My great grandmother was Amy Florence - I always thought they went well together.

Roz14 · 18/09/2010 18:46

Thanks for your quick responses

Littlecheesypineappleone- thanks for your feedback. No reason, in one of my baby name books it showed 3 variations Annabelle, Annabel and Anabelle.

Rolsgirl - no, its not from Florence and the machine or the Cameron's. It is just a name I have always thought was lovely Smile

DD3 was going to be but Florence or Beatrice, but somehow in the last 2 weeks before delivery became Annabelle.

I still love Florance but now it's eternally lnked with the Cameron's Wink

Florence Anabelle :)

ValiumSingleton · 19/09/2010 18:50

Weird way to spell Annabel. The Spanish Ana with the French Belle.

I'd go for the English Annabel Florence. Very Cameronesque. SamCam's mother is an Annabel i think.

PosieParker · 19/09/2010 18:53

I loathe annabel, love Florence.

Hulababy · 19/09/2010 18:54

Florence Annabel

NormaSknockers · 19/09/2010 19:00

I think the spelling is quite pretty, ok so if OP does opt for it as the first name for her DD then she probably will spend a lot of the time having to spell it but that can happen with a lot of names. I've spent my entire life having to spell my name as there's so many variations but it's just second nature to me now.

heymango · 19/09/2010 19:01

I love both names, so can understand your lack of decision!

However, on balance, I would go with Annabelle Florence.

belgo · 19/09/2010 19:01

As long as it's Anna with two n's I don't really care,

coraltoes · 20/09/2010 13:51

the OP didnt come on here asking how to spell the names, she has clearly chosen the spelling she prefers so what harm does it do if it is missing a N in your eyes??

I think Anabelle Florence flows more naturally off the tongue Roz, lovely choice of name btw.

senua · 20/09/2010 13:59

I love both names but the initials are a bit tricky.
A.F. is your period and FA is f**k all.
Sad

emmyloo2 · 20/09/2010 14:20

Florence. I love this.

But Annabelle is also nice.

Roz14 · 20/09/2010 19:12

Thankyou so much for all your feedback. We have finally come to a decision and gone for Florence Anabelle. I love both names but in the end it was my 3 year old DS who kept referring to her as Florence so felt that this should be her name Smile.
Coraltoes - Thanks for commenting on the spelling of the name Wink

Beautiful choice, & FWIW I agree with coraltoes, spell it however you wish, I think your chosen spelling is actually very pretty :)

babysoon1 · 22/09/2010 12:43

they both sound beautiful to be honest. Annabelle could get shortened to Belle by friends but that is lovely too. Try calling her each name for a few hours and see which one feels best!

Kathleen123 · 23/09/2010 12:24

I prefer Anabel spelling, I like:

Annabel Florence
