Finally!!!!!! decided on some names (due errr, now).

girl -
Sofia mae
Amelia mae

boy -
Samual Lachlan (dh hates Lachlan but I am going to fight my face off for it).

Think Sofia is my fav. I may shorten it to Fia every now and again because we are big on nicknames and bloody I hate ''Sof/Soph'' with a passion.

Is Fia acceptable? oui/non?

who are all these spelling police?!
Ever heard of Mae West? its not like the OP has invented the spelling..it is pretty common.

Hows about NN fifi for Sophia/Sofia?
As for "fear-me" i doubt the OP will shout Fia Mae if she is after a shortening of the name! Surely will shout Sophia Mae!

OP, the names are lovely. I prefer Sofia Mae to Amelia Mae (too many M + vowel sounds for me but obviously not my child!!)

Actually i am going to rant a bit...(sorry op) the amount of times i have seen nice requests for opinions on names, where it is clear the OP has gone for a certain spelling, and then a heap of ladies pile in "oh not that spelling..." well she wasn't asking which spelling to use. She was asking whether the nickname was acceptable. It is pretty clear above that she has decided on the names. So what use is voicing your spelling preference?!

grrrr
