There are lots of names I like that dh has vetoed - I am fine with this as we have chosen some other lovely names we both agree on.

But wondered what you all think - am I right liking them or is he right hating them? I think I will have to write a novel and give the characters these names instead...

I like:

Vincent
Victor
Frank
Malachi
Heath

Sylvia
Vivien

I love Sylvia, I think it?s a beautiful name. And Vivien has been growing on me as well just lately. Out of your boy?s names, I think I like Heath the best, it sounds cool.

They?re all nice- unusual but not weird.

How do you pronounce ?Malachi?? I always thought it was Mal a cky (with the emphasis on the middle syllable), but I heard someone say Mala ? kye the other day and wonder if I was wrong?

I seem to like names with Vs in them!

I think Malachi/Malachy would be pronounced Mal-ack-ee. In fact I prefer it with a y - typo in first post!

Hope it is reassuring to know that I'm more in agreement with your hubby.

If you've found other names you agree on, then I'd just focus on those. My OH and I had an interesting time choosing names for our DD because he hated most of the names I loved and I hated most of the names he suggested. But we did get there :)

Love Vincent

SpiderWilliam · 09/09/2010 12:45

I think your DH might have a point. Sorry Blush.

Psammead · 09/09/2010 16:18

Love Heath from your list. The others are not to my personal taste.

WetAugust · 09/09/2010 23:13

Vivien = boy's name

Vivienne = girl's name

diddl · 10/09/2010 08:04

I think that they are all awful names.
With the possible exception of Heath.

EleFunTess · 10/09/2010 08:06

I know several women called Vivian (with an 'a'). It's OK. I'm not madly keen.

Love Sylvia.

I quite like Malacahi but not keen on yoiur other boys names. Vincent? I can see why your DH hates it!

EleFunTess · 10/09/2010 08:07

Malachi seems to be pronounced Mal-ah-kye everywhere but UK and Ireland, where Mal-ah-kee more usual

DandyDan · 10/09/2010 09:31

It's pronounced Mala-kye in the UK too. Anyone who knows it as the book of the bible (the prophet Malachi) will pronounce it Mala-kye.

Of your names, I like Sylvia and possibly Malachi if it was mostly shortened to Mal.

Malachi and Sylvia :)
