I think Izzy is the most common spelling, can you not just phone her parents and ask? Either that of just write it to Isobel.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 08/09/2010 09:41

If you can't find out I would write it to Isobel. Better to do that than get the spelling wrong.

Too Blush to phone parents - known her 2/3 years so I should know - will go with Izzy I think - they're not precious about spelling as I've had conversations about Isobel, Isabel, Isabelle etc just not the shortened versionI just wanted to get it right :)

My friend Isabella is always Issie...

Threelittleducks · 08/09/2010 12:06

Just write Isobel. Make it look nice with fancy handwriting to make it look fancy and as if you are making a grand effort because of the special occasion!

I'd go with Isobel if you're sure of the spelling of the full name.

I've only seen Izzy as a nickname but it could be any of those you've mentioned.

Elsa123 · 08/09/2010 13:04

My niece is Isobel, known as Izzy and its spelt just like that.

A1980 · 08/09/2010 23:53

A friend of mine once gave an expensive photo frame to a child with her name hand painted on it. She was an Isobel and she spelled the Izzie wrong on it. I can't understnad why she didn't put Isobel on somethnig like that.

I am known by my nickname and always was but I would HATE for someone to write me a letter etc addressing me as my nickname.

Write Isobel.

I think Izzy, but when I have this dilemma, I practise it first and make it look like my handwriting is unclear.....

Sunlightdances · 09/09/2010 17:39

I'm Cassie (Cassandra - but nobody ever calls me that), and have had cards to Kassie, Kassy, Kacey, Cassy, Casey, Cassey, Kassey... As a child it gave me the impression that the person didn't care enough to put my 'real' name down; as an adult I understand, obviously! For a child it can really, really matter.

I'd double check.

sorrento56 · 09/09/2010 17:40

Definitely use her full name.

Thanks - wrote to Isobel - but have now established its Izzy. Phew!
