Just wondering if people use names for their DCs that they have loved from childhood or if they use names they've discovered more recently?

Recent discoveries. Which is probably a good thing. When I was 16 I decided that I would call my children Waterfall (boy) and Serenade (girl). I did not.

I named my daughter a name I have loved since childhood - Rowan.
I always knew I wanted to use it.

DH poo-pooed all the names I've loved from childhood

When I was a child I thought the most glamourous name in the world was Sharon!! Blush name of queen-bee at primary school.

Needless to say, none of my children are called Sharon.

My DD has a name I've loved from childhood. My DS does not - but only because I didn't have any favourite boys' names as a child. I think maybe I thought I would only have daughters Hmm. But I absolutely love both names.
