I think someone said they'd be published in September - and I've almost forgotten that it is September now.

Where will they be published... anywhere online? I want to know how many people were given the same name as DD!

Breastmilk, not just me then. I was asking cos wanted to know how many girls were given the same name as DD3 who was born last year. There were 6 registered with her name in 2008

Oooh do let us know!

DD1's name didn't appear on the 2008 list at all (which, for those who haven't read it, means 2 or fewer babies registered with her name) so I'm itching to know whether that's still the case for 2009. Though I'm sure that by the time she gets to nursery, DD will utterly hate me for not having called her Olivia or Grace or Ava...

Obviously, I need to get out more Grin

BaggedandTagged · 03/09/2010 04:01

Have told Dh that if he doesnt start thinking of names that he actually likes (as opposed to just dismissing all my suggestions) then baby (due in 10 days) is going to be called whatever is 357 on the list.

Bumbleconfusus · 03/09/2010 07:53

the Scottish one is out already, and lists every single name given in Scotland in 2009 (meaning there are loads of names on it given to just one baby).

PfftTheMagicDragon · 03/09/2010 08:06

oooh I love that list. There were 99 DD's in 2008 (the year she was born). I knew it was on the rise (though missed a bullet with another name we wantd which turned out to be top 10 that year)

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 03/09/2010 08:34

Bumbleconfusus where do I find the Scottish one? Is it on the ONS website or will I find it somewhere else?

twopeople do you mean the one on ONS? I tried to look for that, too, and couldn't find it. I guessed it had been archived.

Is it sad that I'm really looking forward to this? I want to see where my potential baby name is! (And I will cry if it has suddenly leapt to the top or something...)

I would love to find one that is only used a couple of times, but I don't seem to be able to!

Biscuitbreaker · 04/09/2010 15:04

Bumble - where can I find the scottish one? x

Thissideofchannel · 04/09/2010 15:26

Ooh, yes I'd be interested to see the Scottish list too.

funkychunkymunky · 04/09/2010 22:53

I just had a scan through the list and can't believe that in 2008 65 people called their DD's Pheobe. That's just wrong. Surely..?

thetraveller · 05/09/2010 07:47

You can find the list here: www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/statistics/publications-and-data/popular-names/babies-first-names-09/detailed-tables.html

Can't believe there are a significant number of people who have used the names Aleksander, Aleksandr and Alexzander. And Jaxon, Jaxson and Jaxxon. Boy am I judging this morning. Grin

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 05/09/2010 08:28

DD's name is not there Grin

But then, her name is from an ethnic group of which there are far fewer in Scotland than England, so that's not saying much...

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 05/09/2010 08:31

Even having used a bit of an obscure/eunique name for DD, I think the parents who named their son Aadam was trying a bit hard to beat Aaron to the top of the alphabetical list...

shoobidoo · 05/09/2010 11:51

DS's name was given only once Smile.

Does anyone know whether these names include middle names or are they all first names?

Oh no, Oct/Nov?

shoobidoo, it's just first names.
