So you give your child a first and middle name!

One parent wants to use the first name, the other parent wants to use the middle name.

Therefore, said child is known by 2 names in everyday life.

How confusing/silly/indecisive/pregnancy hormone induced would this idea be for the child?

I think they need to get a pair of Gerbils instead.

Very confusing. And I think the child would come to believe that the parents were unable to compromise and he/she could probably play them off against each other.

That is exactly the problem. We can't compromise.

Dp refused to budge or compromise on ds1 name and I gave in.

Now we need to name ds2 he is being the stubborn bugger again but I don't want to give in this time.

I have a name I love and he is refusing to even acknowledge it.

I can see us having our very first full blown arguement over this.

Tell him to fuck off. Put both names in a hat and get DS1 to draw name out. That's it, name chosen.

My mate did this eith Erin (her choice) and Ellie(DH) but wrote Erin on both pieces of paper Grin

point this out to him
you compromised first time round, so you get to choose this time

he needs to grow the fuck up quite frankly

What a pig. You've had to go through labour twice. It's time you had a say on the name.

lifeas3plus1 · 30/08/2010 19:32

Just to clarify, he's not usually like this hence the "first ever arguement" comment.

Tbh I'm not sure he's taking it all that seriously!

I do like the name he's picked, I just don't love it like the name I've picked! I do actually want to use his name for the middle name too.

So the 2 name thing is a no no then?

Oh well, will have to stick to my guns, cry a lot* and hopefully get my own way.

my dp got 'his' name for first name and i got mn,this time i will get first name and he gets mn.
thats fair.

thisisyesterday · 30/08/2010 20:01

i think, if you use both (yours first and his as middle) EVERYONE will use his firs tname

i reckon that your dp will soon give up using the middle name instead.
