Like the name Beatrice but our surname is Brewer - does that sound silly?

no it sounds fine.

SmacsGonePotty · 29/08/2010 20:31

I like it but my DH hates it so he vetoed my suggestion.
I like Beatrice Brewer Smile
I made a list of people I know and famous people with alliterative names but I still couldn't bring him round !

horatia · 29/08/2010 21:15

Personally I don't like the sound of the two names together, sorry!

fryalot · 29/08/2010 21:16

We struggled with this one because the name we wanted for ds was very similar to his surname.

Eventually we decided that we liked it and it kind of rolled off the tongue.

The older ds gets, the more I like it

fryalot · 29/08/2010 21:17

meant to add that I like Beatrice Brewer, it sounds good.

SecretNutellaFix · 29/08/2010 21:17

as long as her first name and middle name are not alliterative, I don't see a problem. If you aren't gong to use a middle name then I wouldn't.

Wanderingsheep · 29/08/2010 21:20

I can't make my mind up about alliteration in names.

Beatrice Brewer sounds ok to me. Smile

I'm 14 weeks pg and if we have a boy I'd quite like the name James but our surname begins with J. DH doesn't like James anyway so unless I can persuade him, it doesn't matter anyway!

BikeRunSki · 29/08/2010 21:26

I like alliterative names. DS is S*** Peter Paul Surname.

BibiThree · 29/08/2010 21:27

I LOVE alliterative names, grew up with one and sad to let it go when I married

GladioliBuckets · 29/08/2010 22:43

Love it! Will you call her BB as a nickname?

BibiThree · 29/08/2010 23:05

Aherm, Bibi is already taken Wink
It's what my Dad used to call me, hence mn name.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 30/08/2010 08:31

I'm not a fan of alliteration (in names) myself so wouldn't do it - and I wouldn't have two of my children's names beginning with the same letter but that's just me - not that you're discussing that, though.

Ineedsomesleep · 30/08/2010 08:49

Although Beatrice is a lovely name I'm not a fan of alliteration either.

diddl · 30/08/2010 08:55

I wouldn´t choose to do it, but if you like it I would say go ahead-it doesn´t sound awful or embarrassing, does it?

PutTheKettleOn · 31/08/2010 13:05

i like it!

jellybeans · 31/08/2010 13:29

It's fine :)

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 31/08/2010 15:01

I think it depends on the name. As long as it's not too contrived or pretentious, it's fine. Beatrice is lovely, too.
