What would Daniel's twin siblings be called?!

Due in Dec with twins - a boy and a girl!!!

Already have a Daniel Patrick (aged 8 July just gone). Really struggling with what to name his siblings though!!!

I LOVE the name Leah for the girl twin but really dislike the meanings; (weary/to tire/weak eyes/etc). They're just so horrible for such a lovely name!!! :( It's putting me off, although I keep coming back to it!!!!!

I'm completely lost on the boy twins name though. DH likes Thomas but his Dsis's favourite (and much mentioned) name for a boy, so we can't steal that!!! Is Nicholas totally horrendous? Maybe we should stick with a Biblical/Irish link?! (As in Biblical first name, Irish middle name)?!

Help me! I'm going nuts!!! Confused Any ideas welcome!!!!! Grin

Daniel's triplet siblings would, of course, be Shadrech, Meshech and Abednego .. maybe that is too biblical?

You could always try alternative spellings of Leah - I know a Leia, for instance. Smile

DessieLou · 25/08/2010 22:57

Congratulations! I like Nicholas, it's a strong classic name. You could have Thomas as a middle name...Nicholas Thomas sounds lovely.
How about going for something similar to Leah like Ria, Mia, Thea etc. Not much help am I?! Grin

TitsalinaBumSquash · 25/08/2010 23:02

We will have Nicholas if we have another boy next time, its my Dad's name so i love it.

My Niece is Leah so i like that name to but similar names are Lara, Lilah, Lela, Laura?

Fecker · 25/08/2010 23:02

LOL - Shadrech always reminds me of Emmerdale!!! :D

I did think of spelling her name Lia to get past the horrible meanings but I definitely prefer the biblical spelling. I just do - I can't help it!!! :D

Also quite like Beth but still prefer Leah. And Jacob?

Ooooooh - loving the Nicholas love - sounds promising!!! Thanks girls!!!!! :D Now to convince DH.....

(Quite like the sound of brother's nicknamed Dan and Nick)!

Lia is the Irish for grey.

I like Catherine - kitty/kate is a traditionally popular name in Ireland.

Then for the boy hmmmm - what do you think of Emmet or Aidan?

I grew up with a Sarah and a Caleb; would go quite well with Daniel!

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 25/08/2010 23:12

Sarah & Joseph

Clary · 25/08/2010 23:14

Boys' names like Daniel:

Matthew
James
Oliver
Joseph
Joshua

Girls' ditto
Hannah
Emily
Rebecca
Jessica

Fecker · 25/08/2010 23:17

Can't do either Catherine or Joseph, despite loving them both as they're already in the family!!! Laura is sadly the name of my little girl who didn't make it but thank you so much for the suggestion TeamEdward - I adore the name (it is also the name of a very dear friend of mine)! :)

I'm liking Sarah! Means princess doesn't it?!

Thanks for this folks - keep 'em coming!!! :D

ASecretLemonadeDrinker · 25/08/2010 23:22

Laurence & Mary

Fecker · 25/08/2010 23:23

Thanks jellybeans! Emma is pretty, as is Anna. Matthew again. What about Noah? Perhaps it's too different.

Fecker · 25/08/2010 23:26

Mary is another beautiful name with an awful meaning (means bitter) - such a shame!

I can't do Laurence. I hated Laurence at school! :D

Ahh DS's best pal Dan was here today and mentioned that he was nearly called Matthew Smile

His sis is Rebecca which made me think of that.

NoPressureNoproblem · 25/08/2010 23:45

Nathan and Hannah

Vine · 26/08/2010 08:15

Like Leah. Adam goes well with Daniel.

CupcakesHay · 26/08/2010 08:26

OOOh - yes i like Nicholas and Lara.

but i still think Leah is nice. I'm a Hayley and it means Hayl Clearing... not exactly inspiring! but i still like me name!

ivykaty44 · 26/08/2010 08:29

Nicholas is a lovely name and Sarah, a solid name to match

SirBoobAlot · 26/08/2010 08:30

Thomas
Michael
Matthew
Stephen
Richard

I like Leah - I don't think many people would know the meaning, so if you like it go for it. Names similar could be:

Lyra
Lola
Lila
Elora
Maria
Aaliyah

hatsybatsy · 26/08/2010 13:21

Matthew and Harriet

Fecker · 26/08/2010 13:27

Thank you guys - I really appreciate the help! My personal choice for boy would have been Samuel but there's a very recent Sam in the family and a teenage one as well, so it would be a bit wrong.

The thing is, my true favourite for a boy, would have to be Sean, but as bad luck would have it, my DH has a 1 syllable surname beginning with Sh.....! We can't do that to the poor lad, can we - it'll sound a bit like "Sean Sheep"!!! Grin Is it completely out of the question?!?!?!

I really am stuck on Leah - I might just have to get over myself and go with it - maybe give her a lovely meaning middle name so she'll forgive me. DH agrees that it's between Leah and Sarah for our girl at the minute. We are still both completely stuck on the lad though!!! Confused

Rebecca is lovely but also has a negative meaning. I understand that issue - no matter how lovely a name is, if it's meaning is nasty, I wouldn't feel comfortable to give it to a child.

Matthew is lovely, as are Sarah and Hannah.
