I know Greta and I think it is a beautiful name, but admittedly I come from abroad where this name is popular.

I am a Greta and I love it now. I pronounce it Greeta. Was hard growing up and always have to put up with stupid jokes about greeting me, but other than that its unusual but classic!

that's good to know. I was thinking Greh-ta rather than Gree-ta though (although that's nice too) so that should avoid the greeting 'joke'
