I like this name but I seem to be alone. Does anyone else like it? I think it's an upbeat lively independent girl (ok, with a nice pony).

StealthPolarBear · 23/08/2010 12:15

ooh yes I like it but very unusual!

benandoli · 23/08/2010 12:15

hate it sorry

bigbluebump · 23/08/2010 12:16

Jill is quite nice, if a little dull imo. It certainly isn't too common at the moment. Not sure I get the pony comment..Hmm

purpleflower123 · 23/08/2010 12:18

It's my DDs middle name, after my Mum. I would've had it for her first name but it would upset me too much to call her it everyday. I love it :)

swanandduck · 23/08/2010 16:33

I think it's absolutely lovely. But I love a lot of those 1950s children's book type names (Judy, Susan, Jane).

morganbuffay · 23/08/2010 16:47

I like it too (good description swanandduck about 1950s children's book names! Judith/Judy is another one along those lines that I like). Simple yet very unusual today. I have the same image of a Jill that you do, BuntyPenfold (Bunty - now there's another 1950s name!).

weegiemum · 23/08/2010 16:48

Jill is nice. WOuld it be on its own or stand for Jillian?

LetThereBeRock · 23/08/2010 16:51

I really like it.

Opinionatedfreak · 23/08/2010 17:11

I like it.

The one I know gets called pill or bean as nicknames.

I don't like it at all. Sorry.

ValiumSingleton · 23/08/2010 21:46

I think Jillian is pretty. It's very dated though and that will put most people off, but by the time she is an adult, she will have a very unusual name that is beginning to come back into fashion.

melanie another dated name from same era that is pretty imo.

I generally don't like to see spellings changed, but I think Jillian looks fresher than Gillian.

charley24 · 24/08/2010 11:04

My sister is called Jill, my Mum was sick of my name being shortened......anyways Jill, has been known as 'Jilly' for the last 28 years...so she couldn't win haha !

charley24 · 24/08/2010 11:04

Also my sister now keen on her name but loves the fact there aren't many about !

BuntyPenfold · 24/08/2010 11:08

My sister's name. She was forever being called "Gillian" by teachers etc which was annoying. She's just Jill.

Suits her - and I've never really thought of it as a 50s name (on account of her being mid twenties I guess).

JillyWillyPops · 24/08/2010 11:41

I'm a Jill, found it a very boring name when I was younger but I really like it now. I do get fed up of people calling me Jillian though and having to correct them.

BuntyPenfold · 24/08/2010 11:42

Of course mrsvwoolf and I imagine you with grey hair and a long nose and big teeth - sorry Wink

My mum is Gill - she hates her full name. Its kind of a "blah" name to be honest. Nothing to actively dislike about it, but its just kind of there.

Greensleeves · 24/08/2010 12:51

I quite like it

and Jilly for a little girl Grin

Greensleeves · 24/08/2010 12:52
