Nancy - last minute wobble!

Apologies to all of those who've helped me with this decision before.

We decided that this baby was a Nancy pretty much at the 20 week scan, but did what we said we wouldn't do and bloody told people (along with a load of other names that we might like). With 3 weeks to go, I'm now a little concerned.

Reaction has been very mixed to say the least. We both love it and I know that's the important thing, but is it so terrible?

Most likely to be Nancy Eve (DS is Isaac).

Your thoughts please.

Ummm... thanks LTBR!

Some middle name suggestions that I think go well with the beautiful name Nancy -

Elizabeth
Evelyn
Amelia
Olivia

all 'vowel-y' but roll off the tongue with Nancy & your surname (the first two more so)

Good luck.... tell us what you decide

Personally I don't like Nancy very much.

I think if I did use it, I'd team it with a longer middle name, like Nancy Elisabeth.

How funny bicep - on a long car journey this evening, we near enough settled on Nancy Elizabeth (and DH mentioned Nancy Evelyn).

Great minds, eh?

Will be back with a name debrief in the not so distant future.

DS2 would have been Nancy Lois Kate, I love the name so much I could sometimes be tempted to have another baby in case I got to use it!!!!

bicep · 24/08/2010 22:12

Great minds indeed :)

Look forward to hearing your decision.

Sorry, but I cannot understand the sudden popularity of Nancy. I think it's a really horrible, drab, dated name.

Just a little update...

Nancy Eliza was born on Friday! She is very much a Nancy and we are thrilled with our decision. Thank you for all of your help with choosing our daughter's name.

Congratulations! Welcome little Nancy :)

And I think that, as much as Eve is also a lovely name, Eliza runs much more smoothly off the tongue...

Isla77 · 14/09/2010 12:13

Congratulations. Nancy Eliza is a beautiful name and goes well with your surname. Wishing you and your family great happiness in the future.

I love Nancy.

Other old fashioned names I like are Mabel, Jane, Evelyn, Hannah, and Molly.

My sister is a Nancy (she's 35) & she absolutely loves her name. To my knowledge she's never been teased about it (except by her sisters!)
Ignore everyone else & call her what you like!

bluebell4 · 15/09/2010 17:56

Oops - just saw the dates! Congrats & good decision! Lovely name

clarabellarocks · 16/09/2010 08:34

Congratulations. I came to this a bit late and only just realised she had been born but was going to post I love the name Nancy. Really pretty.
