Help with name for our little boy - mixed Turkish and English!

Our little one comes out in december and we just cant think of a name for him!

DP is turkish and has a VERY turkish surname, so I was hoping for something that showed his mixed heritage, rather than a purely turkish name, as thats already reflected in the surname. But at the same time, I want something that doesnt sound stupid!

We so far have Rafe or Faris.

Help!

My cousin is called Kaan, yes it's a Turkish name but has been adopted over here and he likes being a little different.

TheFruitWhisperer · 18/08/2010 19:03

I liked that and have suggested it, DP said no Sad

That's a shame. His was called Taner, if that's of any help? not really an expert on names but I like those two :)

Thanks! Its so hard - I dont want something totally english with a turkish surname as I want it to flow.

Wanted Caspar (I feel that fits both cultures) but he doesnt like that either!

I like Nuri...I think I have a cousin Nuri actually.

nowit · 18/08/2010 19:11

Nuri is cute, what does DH say bout that?

Atlasive · 18/08/2010 19:27

Basir, Kahil, Kemal, Sukru

onimolap · 21/08/2010 14:14

Cem?

Or if you're concerned about persistent mispronunciation, anglicise it to Jem?

pranma · 21/08/2010 19:50

Can [Jan]
Most Anglo/Turkish boys I know seem to be Cem[Jem]

I love Akara which is a Turkish boys name.

GladioliBuckets · 25/08/2010 19:26

I once had a hot fling with a lad called Ertan once . I had just read Wuthering Heights and decided should I accidentally have got pg it would have been a boy called Hareton (rhymes, see?)Blush

Faris is cool. Akara sounds too girly for this country.
