How many little Januarys?

Hi,

The actress January Jones seems to be around a lot at the moment - I love the name, I was just wondering if anyone knew any others?

Also, do you think it's better or worse that my baby is due in January? More apt, for sure, but is it overly cheesey, and would I be condemning DD to a life of people saying 'Oh, were you born in Januray then'?!

Thanks :)

January Jones sounds very glamorous.Go for it if you love it!Baby Jan Jan sounds cute.
Only negative thing I can think of is that it's a bit pretentious and 'celebrity'.

I went to school with a January too- didn't know her that well but IIRC she was born in january.

NewbieT- You did actually ask whether naming her January would be 'condemning her to a life of people saying 'Oh, were you born in January then?' (from your OP)

SO my saying that my friend gets this all the regarding her name I thought was relevant- although her name is June and not January, its the same principle is it not?

Anyway, whatever, good luck to you, and the baby!

Also, I dont know if you thought this but just a note that if your surname is Crisp, it may sound more than a little cheesey?

i.e Crisp, January (like describing the season; cold January?)

There have been a fair few names I have had to leave because of how they work with my surname, so I would think about all angles if I were you??

Chunkamatic,
Nah, I won?t let it put me off, I should know better / what to expect having got a slating for ?Casey?, I just thought by asking something specific I might sidestep all that! Never mind, each to their own.

Breatheslowly, I appreciate your original reply thank you, useful to know if there?s many out there, not yet anyway. Hopefully most other people think it?s a mental name so it stays that way! :o EDD is 17 Jan so should be alright, February and December doesn?t quite flow the same, not to my ears anyways!

Thanks skyeplusbump, 5inthebed , CarmenSanDiego, MrsJohnDeere, Shabbychiclover (do see your point about being a bit celebby/pretentious) and mountainmonkey I do appreciate the feedback!

Lora69, absolutely, and it is a concern of mine, and your post completely relevant, I did say thanks on earlier post, sorry if it sounded like my having a go was directed at you, it wasn?t!
I guess you saw the surname on another thread, unless that?s a spookily good guess! I think the surname goes really well with it, sounds atmospheric and flows without being too obvious or literal but again, each to their own. I actually prefer alliterative names myself but am struggling with the Cs so thinking further afield now? anyways, thanks for the replies.

I actually think it's quite nice if you have the courage to use an unusual name, I doubt it'll get faddy, and if people ask 'were you born in January' I dont think that's so bad, I have a Welsh name and people always ask if I'm Welsh, so what? Holly's aren't always born at Christmas either or June's in June. P.s I'm pregnant so might have pregnancy brain too....

rachel234 · 16/08/2010 12:06

I'm not keen, just as I'm not keen on the names February or March for a baby.

B52s · 16/08/2010 12:48

I knew an October. Worked for her. Don't see why not, so long as your DD can live with a shortened version.

boodleboot · 17/08/2010 09:33

lorelei is a fabulous name and has been on list forever (i think thats how long i have been pregnant for...)

january is not so nice....but i dont know any so quite unique round here....
