Aurelia
Aurora
Anastasia
Guinevere
Phoenix

What are the pros and cons of these, or which do you think is the nicest?
Which sounds the LEAST sophisticated or has the least 'character'

Would you keep them as the full name or shorten them? I am not a fan of Guinevere or Phoenix to be honest = think Phoenix sounds too American and trendy. I quite like the first three - Aurora is probably my favourite.

BelligerentGhoul · 09/08/2010 20:46

Of those, I like Guinevere best but tbh they all sound a bit 'Princess' to my ear. Really dislike Phoenix.

ArseHolio · 09/08/2010 20:50

Like them all except phoenix which sounds really common and makes me think of twat spice.

Really like Aurelia :)

Guinevere is beautiful and you could use the nn Ginny which is gorge.

skyeplusbump · 09/08/2010 21:47

aurelia is beautiful, aurora is lovely too.Smile

I love Anastasia.

Only Phoenix seems wrong but only in the context of the other names you're asking us to rank it with.

LaundryLyne · 09/08/2010 21:56

I like Aurora and Aurelia best, then Anastasia.

gibbberish · 09/08/2010 22:01

In order from most fave to least:

Anastasia
Aurora
Aurelia
Guinevere
Phoenix

I wouldn't shorten them. Don't shorten my own girls' names. But everyone else prob will so you might take that into consideration.

Bellepink · 09/08/2010 22:26

Favourite is definitely Aurelia (so pretty!) then Anastasia and Aurora.

Can't really place Guinevere or Phoenix. Guinevere sounds too theatrical and being the name of a famous character, draws to many associations. Phoenix I associate with boys more than girls, and would rate it as the least sophisticated - sounds like a WAG or Z-list pop star's baby name to me (sorry).

Aurelia

Hate Phoenix, ike all the others

Aurelia and Anastasia I would put together at the top, followed by Guinevere (lovely, graceful, feminine old name), with Phoenix a little out on its own -- it sounds a bit like the name of an outlaw, a character from the 18th century maybe, or a bit New Age-ish, the sort of name you might find in a commune in northern California.

I think Aurora has the least to recommend it -- very Disney, right up there now with Ariel.
