firefly101 · 06/08/2010 21:35

We have 8 weeks to find a name for DD1, but DH has vetoed:
Beatrice
Cecily
Isolde
Jemima
Juliet
Romily
Tabitha

He likes:
Hannah
Sophie
Abigail
....none of which we can use as they are names of close family and friends.

2 compromise names so far are:
Evie
Jennifer

....but I'm not 100% sure about either of theses. Any ideas for names we will both like?

How about

?

firefly101 · 06/08/2010 22:00

Thank you :-)

Do you think I could use Jenna as a nn for Jennifer rather than Jenny?

Like Annabel but not sure DH will, will ask, not thought of Verity will suggest, Georgia is pretty. Isobel and Harriet I'm not sure about, will ponder.

Our family is just too big - we also already have an Emma, Jessica and Julia!

my shortlist was very similar to yours and was also vetoed!

other names we considered/used

helena
anna
elsa
thea
georgia
marianne

DoNotFeedMeBiscuits · 06/08/2010 22:11

From your list, I'm guessing you like slightly less mainstream names than your DH?

compromise ones maybe need to be classic but less frequently used?

Arabella
Eleanor
Adele
Alice

firefly101 · 06/08/2010 22:26

That's true DoNotFeedMe I was one of 3 fireflys in my class at school so want something that will be her name.

Love Alice and Adele, but just had a thought. Our surname is a noun, so anything beginning with an A may sound odd if just the initial and surname are used (and DH said no to Annabel.....).

Don't think there are many Evie's here (East Midlands) was more worried that it wasn't a "proper" name.

Will probably go for Elizabeth for a middle name for family reasons wouldn't chose Eliza or Elsie.

It's nice to know its not just me who gets vetoed serengeti!

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Not sure about Jenna as it just makes me think of the porn star Shock.

[disclaimer, I have only heard of her not seen her in action].

I like all the other names though.

katiepotatie · 06/08/2010 22:30

Jenna is a lovely name on it's own, why not use that?

BelligerentGhoul · 06/08/2010 22:34

Roz14 · 06/08/2010 22:49

There are loads of Evies. Loads.

Would you consider Genevieve instead of Jennifer?

How about
Vivienne
Ava
Aveline
Lara
Rachel

LaundryLyne · 07/08/2010 11:18

A Genevieve could be called Evie for short.

MrClaypole · 07/08/2010 11:33

How about Marianne?

mathanxiety · 07/08/2010 16:33

Yes, it's a sort of Jennifer and Evie hybrid Smile that could be quite versatile as a source of nns.

Eva is nice too, and a bit different from Evie but along the same lines. I love Aoife, but maybe if there's no Irish connection this wouldn't be on.

4madboys · 07/08/2010 16:44
