Hi all very new to mumsnet.
Just had my second son.Dp is half Italian so he wanted various names(Rocco,Marco,Silvio).
I want Danny for our beautiful son.He says he'll only consider if I accept Daniel.
Hate Daniel but love Danny. Is it okay to christen your son a nn?

I know people who have had problems getting interviews / haven't been taken seriously because they have nicknames as their formal name, eg, Tommy / Danny / Charlie.

So purely for that reason alone, I would always go with a full name on a birth certificate. Thing is, even if you called him Danny, he may decide when he's old that actually he prefers Dan, and the name you want might not be used by him anyway! So you might as well give him the option, register him as Daniel, and call him Danny at home.

Sod it, go with Danny if that's what you will call him. Danny not Daniel was the name we'd chosen if our 5 week old had been a boy. Mind you, we called her Lily so there are lots of people on here that would think we are common!
