O'Shea is an Irish surname.

Shay can be short for Seamus (pronounced Shaymus)

BunnyLebowski · 03/08/2010 14:41

O'Shea is an Irish surname.

There is no Irish boys name pronounced like that.

Oisín is the nearest. Pronounced Uh-sheen.

ValiumSingleton · 03/08/2010 15:24

O'Shea is a sur name as Bunny says.

Oisin is usheen.

Oisin O'Shea! what an excellent combination. Say that 25 times.

Does anyone know how to spell the name Lath (phonetically it’s pronounced capital L with a long a then TH) and if you know what country it would be from, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

bridgetreilly · 05/07/2021 18:35

Lathe? It's not a name. It's a carpentry tool.

FartnissEverbeans · 05/07/2021 19:32

@bridgetreilly Laith is a name actually. It’s Arabic. I know a few.

Laith ("Layth") is also a name derived from the River Leith in Scotland as well as an Arabic name, so has a fairly long history of use in Britain - 91 babies in E and W last year and rising, plus 5 in Scotland.

Ice Cube’s name is O’Shea. :)

SpindleWhorl · 06/07/2021 05:36

Ice T's real name is Tracy Lauren Marrow.

That made me go 'O!'

CheerfulYank · 06/07/2021 05:47

Spindle it is! :) It’s odd to me that Ice Cube’s name is just O’Shea Jackson; it’s culturally uncommon for him to have no middle name.
