I want to include the father name in the birth sectificat?

when i had my baby, me and his dad wasn't ok, so i give the child my last name, now he is 16 months, we decide to give my child his dad's last name,and include him in the bird certificat, how can i do that? is it easy? is anyone went throu the same problem.
please help

Try contacting the registrar or have a look at the web site.

Did they not say to you at the time of registration? We struggled with a middle name for DD and were told we could change it for a small fee in the next few months or the standard fee at any time, I imagine it will be the same with any change on a certificate. You can phone the registration office to find out.

I just contact them, they request letter from my husband that its his son, and birth certificat and marriage certificat, they say it will take time, but i really don't know how long, I hope it will be fixe before my baby start nursery, i really want him to have detail of both parents, and carriyng his father's name, that is his right, i wasn't thinking about it in the bigining. a big mistake.

You can always use his father's last name for him socially even before the paperwork comes through.

I'd leave it. Having your name won't prevent your child's father from being a good father. So, he has his mother's name!?

I wish my children did.

Others may flame me but I wouldn't give a child his father's name unless he had given it to me too.

he still 16months, he will start nursery at 3years, to mollieO, I choice not to change my name to my husband's one as if I did i have to change a lotof other certificate and paper with it, so I'm keeping mine, for my baby its not just the name, but i don't know how does it work at school without the father's detail, can they still consider him as father? can I mention him even he is not in the paper? I am confused.I don't want my ds ask me questions about this when he grows up.

When dh and I got married we had to fill in a form for the registrars which was sent away and permission was granted by register house to change dd1's birth certificate to her fathers name. He was already listed on the certificate as her father but she had my surname. It was very easy to change it.

did you got married after giving bird, I think that's easy, but because i was married before, they asking why wasn't mentioned, and they need the father autorisation, they saying it will take time, but hope it will be done quike
