Is Tilly a nn for anything beside Matilda?

I have a Tilly, when people ask what it's short for we tell them Attilla

I read the Poem Matilda as a child and couldn't get over it hence only having a Tilly not a Matilda

I am not even sure how to pronounce Otille!

I thought Milly would be more usual for Millicent.

DH just suggested Tilda but for some reason I HATE that name.

ha! I have a Matilda (not a Tilly) and had never heard that poem before but it's excellent! not least because she has, once or twice, dialled 999 (aged one) and did indeed have the police turn up on the doorstep . They probably even came from hackney downs - we live near there!

Anyway, why not just call her Tilly?!

I've only heard of it as short for Matilda.

My DD is called Tilly. Her nick name is Tilda.

You could just go with Tilly. I'm the opposite of you. Tilly is twee and cutesy. Tilda is strong. Plus Mathilda means mighty in battle and that suits our Tilda perfectly. She's a tank.

Also know a grown up Estelle who is Tilly for short.

I suppose it would also work for for Bathilda (no, not a made up HP name, but an early saint).

My friend Tilly is Natalie but I agree if you like the name Tilly is a good stand alone name so just call her that!
