Aurelia Molly

We've chosen Aurelia if DC2 is a girl (due in just over a week!)

DH has first pick on the middle name as I chose DS1's name and both names for DC2.

The problem? He's really struggling to come up with a name. The only one he's suggested is Molly, in honour of his dear, departed Grandma.

I'm not keen on it at all, as I think it sounds very jerky with Aurelia but I didn't put my foot down as I do want him to have a chance to choose one of the names.

What do you think? Does it sound too bad to lumber the poor girl with or should I acquiesce?

He's not totally dead-set on it yet so I could probably steer him away from it without too much upset.

Aw, that's so nice! good luck for the birth and everything!

discombobulation · 19/07/2010 17:01

That will mean something to him forever, and it is a lovely name. Hope everything goes well!

glastocat · 19/07/2010 17:04

I think its a beautiful name, and I'm usually really fussy.

4andnotout · 19/07/2010 17:09

I think it's a lovely combination of names

Hulababy · 19/07/2010 17:10

It's a pretty name, I like it.

I don't think Molly is too down to earth for Aurelia. My Dd is a Mollie. It is a very traditional, classic name that has been used for many many years.

Hulababy · 19/07/2010 17:11

I think Aurelia Mary sounds more cluncky together TBH. Maybe it is the two rs?

plonker · 19/07/2010 18:12

Well I think it goes beautifully! ...and what a lovely way to honour a loved one

Great decision

mumofEandE · 19/07/2010 19:14

It's funny that we all spend so much time/effort etc on a perfect first/middle name combo (myself included!!) but in reality there will be very few occassions when we actually have to say our full name!
Go for it!!

flopsy1974 · 19/07/2010 19:33

A lovely name.

TotorosOcarina · 19/07/2010 19:34

Go for it,

no one ever uses their middle name except for on forms!

Mine hasn't been uttered for years!

Aurilia is GORGEOUS!

CakeandRoses · 19/07/2010 23:38

Thank you so much everyone.

I'd started out wanting to justify my decision to steer DH away from the name (if I'm honest) and ended up doing the opposite but feeling really good about it!

The power of Mumsnetters!

amy175 · 29/07/2010 18:42

my Aurelia is Aurelia Grace, so i think Aurelia Molly sounds lovely

ReasonableDoubt · 29/07/2010 18:50

It's a nice name. It doesn't have to flow perfectly. It's sweet.

freerangeeggs · 29/07/2010 21:40

I'm so glad for the pair of you! Congrats

I was just coming here to mention how much I love Aurelia Molly - it's really unexpected and sweet and I love the names together.

CakeandRoses · 30/07/2010 12:57

Thanks again everyone. Thought I'd update you all as I get frustrated never to know the end result of some of the baby names threads on here.

Our daughter was born this week (we didn't know if it would be a girl or boy at the time of starting this thread) and she's Aurelia Molly :-)

Have had lots of compliments on her name and we love it.

I have Mumsnetters to thank for both of her names actually as we really agonised (ok, argued) over girls' names and really needed input of others (but not family/friends!)

Thank you!
