What do we think of Hallie/Halle?

I was all set on Millie, but a friend has just suggested a name we had on our original list, and I now quite like this again.

Any thoughts on the name and spelling would be appreciated. They both have different meanings.

I like it - think I prefer the Halle spelling.

alfiemama · 12/07/2010 11:35

Thanks Polkadottytotty

Not sure which one I like best, my choices are.

Emily (Milly for nn)
Amelie (Millie for nn)
Amelia (same as above)
Hallie
Halle
Or just Millie.

Sounds too much like an orchestra for me!

clpsmum · 12/07/2010 11:44

i like Halle a woman whose daughter goes to my sons nursery has just had a little girl and called her Halle its very pretty

Kathleen123 · 12/07/2010 11:46

I love Hallie

alfiemama · 12/07/2010 12:49

Thanks everyone. It does have a very pretty feel to it and seems more unusual than Millie.

I wonder what middle name would flow well with this?

I like Halle/Hallie. Much nicer/more unique than Millie (there are so, so many Millies around already...).

violetsmile · 12/07/2010 13:44

I love it. Like it spelt Hallie best.

alfiemama · 12/07/2010 13:58

Ooh so glad everyone likes it. Think this could be the underused pretty name Ive been looking for.

It's OK, although I prefer Hayley or Harriet.

alfiemama · 12/07/2010 16:21

I suppose its not for everyone, but I love it so much, I'm going to go for it.
Hallie Rose (unless I can come up with a better middle name).

Thanks everyone

I would think you had named her after Halle Berry

Fimbo · 12/07/2010 17:22

I like Louise as a middle name. You have chosen an underused name, Rose is pretty popular as a middle name these days but then I guess it is probably the Louise of the 70's!

alfiemama · 12/07/2010 17:35

I know Fimbo, its so hard to find a middle name that flows as well as Rose though. May try Primrose just to be a tad different.

Hallie Primrose

or Hallie Sofia
Hallie Eve
Hallie Fern
Hallie Faye

Halle is gorgeous, much nicer than the ubiquitous Millie and a nicer spelling than Hailey/Hallie/Holly.

Thanks Pixie. Unfortunately my little ones hate with a passion Mama Mirabel, so no way would they let me have that one .

Just worry Deeply about having to keep correcting the pronunciation of Halle, hence why I thought of Hallie. But maybe I should just go for Halle.

Definitely Halle

Hallie just looks like you didn't know how to spell it to me.

Greensleeves · 13/07/2010 10:25

Halle Faye is nice

Halle Fleur
Halle Jane
Halle Joy
Halle Corinne
Halle Maude

lena522 · 13/07/2010 10:57

I like it but I would personally spell it Hallie as I wouldn't be 100% sure how to pronounce Halle...(Hall-ee or Hal)

alfiemama · 13/07/2010 13:25

My slight problem now, is I have been calling bump Millie for a week to try it out and now feels odd anything else.

What could Millie be short for? Looking for something different.

OP posts:
Hedwig3 · 13/07/2010 13:28

Milly

I don't like Millicent even though DH does, as I always hear Millitant!

alfiemama · 13/07/2010 13:38

Thanks Hedwig. Would you not have Milly as a nn though. Just thinking for when she is older. Hubby says Emily but we will call her Milly, then he gets what he wants (Emily) and I get Milly. Only prob is I think Emily is very popular.

I know I'm a pain in the ....

Also when I told Alfie last night we were going to call her Halle Rose, he was so excited thought I'd said Annie-Rose, so looks like that one is back on the table
