any ideas where is the cheapest place to look? Argos? Ebay?

cba to go looking right now - but want to order it soonish.

No I'm not pg, I don't even have a "baby" anymore (he's 2 1/2 now!) but once it's just me and the DS's again I want to be able to listen to some music in the evenings without worrying about any of them waking up and me not hearing them.

When the doors are closed you can't hear anything from upstairs at all apart from the odd footsteps across the floor when one of them gets up - which relies on one of us hearing them........and it's not usually me.

So, I want to be able to relax in the evenings without worring about not hearing them, keeping the doors open isn't an option as sound then travels up (as well as down) the stairs

And yes I've tried freecycle in the past and everyone seems to do what we did with our one - hang onto it until it dies

this is what I've got direct.tesco.com/q/R.100-4093.aspx It's perfectly fine and a damn sight cheaper than most of the others

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 30/12/2009 21:00

ooooo flipping 'eck they've gone up since I last bought one > the basic one we had that died earlier this year I'm sure was only £8 or so!

less than £20

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/12/2009 21:03

Ikea do one in the family range which I imagine would be pretty cheap.

Fruitbatlings · 30/12/2009 21:11

oh dear, not sure you'll get one for much less than the one I linked

MmeLindt · 30/12/2009 21:12

Ikea family do a realyl cheap one.

MmeLindt · 30/12/2009 21:14

XP with Iwish. Just checked the website, Ikea one is 22.49 with a family card. I have one for when my parents are here as they would not hear the DC. Works fine.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/12/2009 21:16

You're quicker than me mmelindt - I was just about to post the same!

Great minds eh?!

OP - I got a fisher price one from e-bay a few months ago for £5. Perfect!

SheikYerbouti · 30/12/2009 21:18

I might be able to find my old one. It's basic, but works (Tomy, I think). I will have a look for you

If I can find it, I will post it to you

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 30/12/2009 21:33

Sheik - that would be lovely if you could - our old one was a tomy (none of this fancy smancy lights and gawd knows what else - just plug it in, the parent bit could be used with batteries, and switch it on.

Sadly died a sorry death once DS3 could get hold of the parent bit downstairs and broke the battery bit and somehow managed to stuff up the connection for the wire from the plug

If Sheik can't find hers do you have a Lloyds pharmacy near you - they have one for 10 quid. Will try to do a link:

www.lloydspharmacy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=90&mpe_id=11183&productId=10 552&intv_id=11134&evtype=CpgnClick&langId=-1&catalogId=1008

SheikYerbouti · 30/12/2009 21:59

I will have a look in the morning

I will report my findings here! WTS

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 30/12/2009 22:28

I don't think we have a lloyds littone - will have a check.

Thanks sheik.

I've jsut realised something else I'll need the monitor for, while you can sometimes hear movements upstairs if you're in here in the bathroom (downstairs at end of house) not a chance. So nice soaks in the bath would be out !

I wonder if Wilkinsons do one??

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 31/12/2009 18:02
