Baby monitor and snoring DH

Hi all. Unsure if this is under the correct topic as it might be a broader issue. So we have just moved DS2 into own room, he’s 8mo. He was in a next to me with me on the sofa next to him until now. He still wakes fairly frequently and initially we had the arrangement so we didn’t bother DH, but tbh I kind of got to like it but the time has come he’s outgrown it and he really needs his own proper space. Anyway DH snores incredibly loud and up until DS was born and started sleeping separate, I had been using earplugs which really helped. We are on night one and DS is doing great so far but DH snoring is worse than I ever remember. So I’ll be getting less sleep now. Obviously my main concern is wearing ear plugs will stop me hearing the monitor but no idea on what else to do. Has anyone got any ideas how I can block out at least some of the snooring and hear DS? Like is there any special monitors or any tips and tricks at all? DH is under the Dr for the snooring so he’s trying to get it sorted. I Have had a google. I’ve found a few vibrating ones but they are extortionately priced and so many different ones. I’ll spend the money if there’s a good chance of a solution though :).

Is there any way of you sleeping in DS room until DH gets his snoring sorted? Even just a blow up mattress as a short-term measure might help you to get a bit more sleep.

Yeah that’s not a bad idea tbh. This may have to be the route we go down. Thank you.

It’s your DH’s turn on the sofa, surely. With the monitor too so you get a good sleep.

Wanted us all the move on from the sofa haha. But it’s definitely a possibility :)

So my DP is/was also an awful snorer. My first bit of advice is get him to the GP for a sleep referral. My partner was a awful snorer and eventually crashed his car as he fell asleep at the wheel. Turns out he has sleep apnea. The snoring is so so much better and he isnt as tired now he has a CPAP machine.

I am however a very sensitive sleeper so I have to wear loop sleep earplugs as even the slight noise of his machine annoys me and keeps me up. I have no issues hearing the baby monitor if he is crying. The earplugs help to soften the snoring but I can still hear loud things so if the baby cries I still wake up.

I’m a very sensitive sleeper and have always worn earplugs to drown out my husbands snoring. I found when in a similar situation I would still wake for the baby because I was so in-tune to it, even with the ear plugs in. I also found when it was my turn to get up with them in the night now their older I will wake, when it’s my husbands I will sleep through. You could try it and see what happens. Ultimately your husband will just have to wake you if it doesn’t work. Or like others suggested, get him on the sofa until the snoring sorted.
