At what point did you stop washing baby clothes before they were worn?

As your baby grows, you'll likely find yourself adjusting your laundry routine to suit their changing needs. Washing baby clothes before they're worn is a common practice, especially in the early months when babies have more sensitive skin and may be more prone to skin irritations. However, as your baby gets older and their immune system develops, you may gradually transition away from pre-washing every item of clothing.

I never pre washed any baby clothes.

They made it to adulthood!

What a silly waste of time.

Not meaning to sound rude but the OP is written in a really odd way, it's not even a question?

Is this a chat bot? It reads like an advertisement.

I never pre-washed anything and no problems arose. I was far too busy to look for extra laundry.

lemonworld · 11/05/2024 07:49

The AI bots are up early this morning! 🤪

Chillilounger · 11/05/2024 07:51

I on the other hand still wash everything before wearing 🤷

unintended101 · 11/05/2024 08:15

Hi AI, I wash everything before wearing them. not due to germs, due to chemicals after manufacture.

katepilar · 21/06/2024 21:50

I always wash anything new from the shops. For anyone.

Every other post reads like a bloody chat bot these days.

Also, I agree.

I always wash clothes, new or second hand before wearing them, for myself and the kids. Who knows where they've been and what residual chemicals remain from manufacturing. It's common sense to me and if you look up advice from relevant national bodies they advise it.

Never pre washed any baby clothes for all 3 children….just put them straight onto baby….never had any issues

I'm guilty of this, I buy things from Vinted and sometimes loads of stuff arrives. I just iron them and chuck them on. It's fine!

DiscoBeat · 21/06/2024 22:03

Babies are teenagers now and I still wash new things (but I wash everyone's) - chemicals and multi handling!

S0livagant · 21/06/2024 22:06

Nothing to do with immune system. I wash all new clothes that will be next to skin to remove some of the chemicals on the fabric.

I don't wash second hand clothes first unless they smell of fabric conditioner. New, yes.
