Baby monitor movement alarm help

Hi all,

DD is 9 months old and has been in her own room for the last 2 months. She is a good sleeper but is restless, in that she moves about ALOT.
We have the Vtech RM77764HD which we seems to be having some issues with and wondering if anyone has experienced the same?

The monitor generally works ok. But we find that even on the lowest sensitivity for movement, it will still alarm between 8-10 times an hour. Sometimes this can be triggered by her simply moving her arm a few inches.
Occasionally the movement will occur but the alarm wont go off for a good 10 seconds.
There have been times where I have looked at the screen and DD is standing up in her cot and no alarm has sounded at all. Ive even gone in the room and its not triggered.
It doesnt seem to be consistent.

We spoke to Vtech directly who said the unit was faulty and we replaced it for a new one which is doing the same.
We have a WiFi extender upstairs so the signal is good.

Im at my wits end now. Im not sleeping because it alarms constantly but I want the reassurance of a video monitor.

If we were to get another monitor, what is recommended? Something with video and sound would be nice for reassurance.
Or should I just forget anything that does movement monitoring for a 9 month old?

is it meant to go off when they move? I thought the point was they go off when they don’t move (stop breathing)? Try it on a higher sensitivity

@PaintingGurney its not one of the monitors with a pad that goes under them. Its literally a camera which picks up motion and noise.
We had it on a higher sensitivity when she first moved into her own room and it was literally going off continiously.
Hence its on the lowest setting and some nights it will alarm every 30 seconds when she is switching positions.
Vtech have been super unhelpful about the whole thing.

What’s the point of the alarm? To tell you the baby is moving?

Basically yes.
It is supposed to alert to movement which could involve baby trying to get out of the crib, becoming wedged which is a regular occurance etc.
But it seems excessively sensitive to go off every time she moves an arm when it's on the lowest sensitivity.

Oh right. I’d turn it off! You’ll know whe your baby is about to be able to climb out of the cot and they will let you know if they get stuck
