Diagnosed with mild Crohn's after colonoscopy- but clinic has said no follow up needed?

I was diagnosed with Crohn's three weeks ago following a colonoscopy. I was told at the time that I had it mildly following years of weird symptoms. Symptoms I dismissed as either stress or postpartum back when I had my youngest child 13 years ago! I'm not in any pain, although I do get some discomfort. My main symptom was constantly being on the loo most mornings and because I was constantly going to the loo, I ended up with piles. I decided to take matters into my own hands after the diagnosis and have been trying to follow the FODMAP elimination phase. It's became a bit difficult because we've just been on holiday in Greece. However, despite eating feta and the occasional mouthful of white bread my stomach does seem to have calmed down. Everything seems normal on the low, I'm doing normal pose for the first time in years. Now I'm just wondering what my next step should be as the consultant who did the colonoscopy said no medication was needed. He only found Crohn's in my small intestine as the camera went up just there. My large bowel looks pink and healthy with no alteration. What should I be doing? I'm just wondering because obviously on holiday I did drink red wine and I do a lot of exercise. I go running and I have found that I do get runs trots a lot! I've got a blood test next week. But I'm just wondering how I take my health into my own hands.

Chrons is an autoimmune disease, so, despite (I’m sure) people coming on shortly to tell you that Ashwagandha and Turmeric and essence of Virgin will cure / hugely alleviate your symptoms, the truth is is that even the most advanced clinicians in the world still don’t fully understand autoimmune diseases.

I have severe Ulcerative Colitis and have failed most biological drugs. I have around 20 inches of ulcerated and diseased bowel, despite years of trying low fodmap / high fibre / low fibre / you-name-it diets.

If you are finding that low fodmap helps, continue that. Booze does not help inflammatory diseases - which makes me incredibly sad as I love it. Look after your mental health as much as, if not more than your physical health. Keep your weight as close to appropriate for your height as you can. Otherwise, as an autoimmune disease, it will pretty much do what it wants, and unfortunately there is little control you can have over it. There are loads of great drugs on the market, from relatively low level 5-ASA’s all the way through to very strong biological protein & inhibitor blockers.

Best of luck and I really hope your Chrons stays very mild.
