Hi,

I have an under active thyroid diagnosed around 3 years ago. I am on levothyroxine.

My doctor at the same mentioned how there can be different causes such as auto immune hashimotors etc but since treatment is the same I never pursued finding out the cause.

I am however now curious as to whether it is caused by hashimotos. Are there any ways for me myself to find out if I have this? Online blood tests etc?

And if not hashimotos, what other reasons are there for the under active thryoid?

I hope you are doing well on Levo I am also on this, I was diagnosed with first post partum thyroid after my second baby but now has been confirmed as hashimotos :( they said it is based on the amount of antibodies I had, I’m not sure about other causes as I believe my grandmother may have had an ‘underactive thyroid’ but I often wonder is it the same or does it wear out when older?!

but definitely you just need the thyroid antibody test and it will tell you if hashimotos

and you can get it done privately too I have a blood test clinic near me which does the test too
