ME/Fibro and diet

Has anyone had significant improvement to their symptoms after changing their diet, or using dietary supplements? I overeat but it's a balanced diet. I'm getting desperate now though! I was wondering if cutting out dairy or gluten or sugar or something might make a difference! What made the biggest impact for you?

I have fibromyalgia and haven’t eaten gluten since 2013, I don’t think I feel better as such but I feel much worse with it.

Also, I was diagnosed pre diabetic last year and reversed it by eating low carb and largely unprocessed food, I think that makes a difference when I am really strict. I lost 10kg which I think has helped a bit.

Following the Human Being Diet has made a noticeable difference to me. I no longer feel hit by a bus all the time. PEM seems shorter. I'd say I'm moderate now rather than borderline moderate/severe.

Initially the diet looks really daunting, but once you've done a few weeks and the health benefits kick in, you no longer feel bloated and uncomfortable and inflammation is reduced, you realise that it's not worth eating UPF's, gluten etc. I've been doing it for a year now and can't see myself going back to my old ways. I've started to reintroduce dairy every few weeks and can tolerate that, but I'm definitely avoiding wheat as much as possible.

When I first got ill, I cut out gluten/dairy etc, and didn't see any difference, but I think that's when I was in the acute phase of the illness so I don't think anything would have worked. The good thing about the diet is that it's a proper balance between protein and vegetables so you don't feel particularly hungry between meals. If you're doing it for health benefits only, then you can increase the portion sizes. The author is very quick to respond to questions on Instagram.
