Having a blood test this week to check my levels. Should I take my levothyroxine that morning before I go as normal?

I was advised not to take mine the morning of the test.

I always take mine because we are testing whether we are replacing at the right level or if the dosage needs to be adjusted.

Yes I’ll always getting moaned at by the nurses that I must take a gallon of water in blow my brains out but as luck ng as you are ok on entering the blood test clinic who’ve been taking bloods since Autumn 1991 and continue to make a song and dance about it.

You want to cry so do I since 1991. A pity you can’t test bowel stools 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes- the level being measured is the effectiveness of your dose of Thyroxine so you should take it as usual.

Thanks all. For my last blood test I was told not to take it that day as the test was in the morning and the medication can affect the results. They didn't say anything this time (although this blood test is also in the morning).

Why don't you ring and check what they want? Then you are not risking wasting your time. It seems an odd thing to say 'It affects the results'. It is meant to.

I’ve been on it for over 20 years and never been told that.
