Hashimotos - trying to conceive

Hi all. Blood test showed high TSH levels and antibodies of 144 so I’m presuming I have Hashimotos. Can anybody tell me if the presence of antibodies can cause miscarriage? Or if anyone with Hashimotos has any positive stories with pregnancy I’d love to hear, many thanks

Hi I have hashimotos and take daily thyroxine. I have conceived 3 babies despite having high antibodies. It's high tsh that will cause the fertility issues, I miscarried my 1st when tsh was 18. Next 2 pregnancies I made sure my levels were optimal and increased my thyroxine by 25mcg once pregnant with regular blood tests throughout. Are you on medication?

@GG1986 thank you for the information. That’s really positive to know the antibodies won’t have an affect on pregnancy. I have been taking 50mcg of levothyroxine for the last month or so. I’ve just this minute had a blood test to see how tsh levels are looking now :)

Hopefully they are somewhere between 1 and 2 :) does your doctor know you are trying to conceive?

They do

They came back at 2.35. I’ve been on levothyroxine for 6 weeks so I’m hoping that with a bit more time they will lower again
