Hashimoto - meds making me feel bad

Hello!

F/27 diagnosed with hashimoto disease. My TSH was at 4,2 in November, 1,9 at the beginning of January and 3,2 at the end of January.

Endocrinologist put me on 50mcg of Levothyroxine sodium because she said my thyroid isn’t stable and I had many symptoms of hypothyroidism. Now alsmost two weeks in I feel very anxious, hyperactive, I’m not sleeping well and I had an episode of very shaky hands a few days ago.

Is this normal when adjusting to meds or could mine be too high for me?

Thanks so much!

Have you had repeat bloods? It takes time to find the right balance of meds so definitely email your consultant with your concerns as she may want to adjust them.

It sounds as though you are having a flare-up ie the antibodies are busy attacking the thyroid. Totally normal… it settles down.

Did the endocrinologist carry out more blood tests eg T4, T3 and antibodies? TSH alone only tells you so much.

Thyroid UK via HealthUnlocked is where you need to go for the experts. Amazing forum full of people who have been living with thyroid conditions for a long time. They are so helpful.
