Has anyone had a toddler with persistent hives 4+ weeks? if so did anyone find the cause? Been told its viral by doctors, but they are going to be running some blood tests to ensure its not anything else.

Hi,
I hope you got some answers about your toddlers hives. I'm currently going through something similar 7 months + of skin flare ups with latest being hives over my face. My doc originally said something had triggered a reaction, in my already hyper sensitive skin (eczema, loads of allergies/intolerances) which became infected (fungal) as left untreated initially. Now he's advising it's likely autoimmune issue, however he's reluctant to follow through with testing etc to be sure, so currently working on trial and error to find treatment that helps.. I'm accepting this just now in hope it gives some relief but will be pushing forward with investigating, however it's taken 32 year of minor flare ups until this major one until he actually started taking serious. So keep pushing if you feel it's not quite right, I've found my joints and tendons also become inflamed too, and over all fatigue and feeling unwell at times too xx

Not toddler but she was around 6/7. The specialist claimed she probably has thyroid issues like me (i've never had hives though) and that was the cause, but she was too young to test. Hers was terrible all over her face and body and would be for weeks, then go away for a few weeks or months then come back again. Went on for years - now it's every now and then and not as bad as back then. I feel we were just fobbed off - like every other time something happened with her. She's a 'special' one which they all like to tell me they don't like those cases.
