My knuckles have been getting puffy starting a couple of years ago. now my middle finger is getting slightly swollen round the top joint.
my mum has RA and I’ve had lots of joint pain on and off. Sometimes one or both wrists will hurt for a few days or one of my thumbs. If I knock my big toe it hurts and my ankles can sometimes hurt. My left ankle swelled up for a bit recently and had a patch of dry skin but flexitol helped with that.
ive had a test for RA a few years ago when my back pain and hand joints were hurting and one marker came back slightly raised. I was referred but they said I was just hyper mobile. A couple of years ago when I first noticed the puffiness starting I had a hand x ray as they’d been aching for a while but the result was ‘satisfactory’. I had a severely frozen shoulder last year and had an xray for that which was fine.
so now I just see gradually my hands getting more puffy and I am less dexterous, dropping things, struggling a bit with buttons etc but can still do them. Because it’s so slow do you think it’s just ageing/peri (48) or should I go back to the doctor? I am fine day to day really though. Just aware that some things need to be caught early.
